Golden Sands, Bulgaria

I'm not going to write one of my massive monologues here. Just to say that Caro and I had an excellent holiday in Bulgaria. Maybe it's best if I use bullets to explain the highlights;

  • Hotel very nice (Kristal Hotel, Golden Sands)
  • Food and drink varying quality, but generally pretty cheap
  • We made friends with the huge Bulgarian band 'Nachko' that consists of one family spanning 4 generations (see photos of men with violins)
  • We had fun watching CNN in a Lebanese restaurant, but we decided not to choose the 'Iraq Salad' (see photo of menu)
  • We had fun jetskiing and stuff, and even had a ride on a big pirate ship on the Black Sea, although it turned out to be a complete waste of money as we both felt sick the whole time (see photo of Caroline on boat looking sick)

I also read Nick Hornby's latest novel 'A Long Way Down' which is brilliant. Go and buy it now.

a monster bhaji

After a special request from Ruthann, here's a photo of the biggest onion bhaji I've ever seen.

Ruthann and Kenneth introduced Caroline and I to the bhaji at this Indian retaurant on the outskirts of High Wycombe.

It was massive and we shared it between the 4 of us.

As you can see in the photo, Ken is helpfully showing the relative size of a 20pence coin, next the monster bhaji, and I had stuck a fork in the top of it, just because it seemed like a good idea for some reason.
